We often suffer, but we are never crushed. Even when we don’t know what to do, we never give up. In times of trouble, God is with us, and when we are knocked down, we get up again. (2 Corinthians 4:8-9). In my heart I am a parochial Queenslander, proud of the heritage, dyed in Maroon.

In the Premier’s speech after the flood, very similar to the above passage, we were compelled to help each other out because we are Queenslanders -bred tough- and we will get up again. As followers of Jesus, we are promised suffering. We will surely have doubts about our faith, about God’s direction, and often we will despair. God, nevertheless, is always there – the passage also uses “we & us” – that is all the other people following Jesus. No matter what has knocked you down, or however many times, God and your brothers and sisters in Jesus Christ will help.

The Bible is often confusing to read with many different versions to choose from, but, with the Holy Spirit at work, it can be very revealing. The more I read it, meditate and pray on it, greater understanding and direction emerge. As well, I am not alone to work it out as I talk and share with other Christians.

We as Moore Park Church are facing many issues pushing in on us. God though is with us; our troubles are His. We continue to seek His direction and, if we stumble along the way, let us help each up and continue in prayer doing what we believe God has planned.
